Everyone can claim that they are professional in the carpet cleaning industry but not everyone can prove that claim. That is why if your carpet cleaner said that they are professionals, ask some proofs from them. A carpet cleaner is considered professional if he has attended or got his certification from one or more of the following agencies:
 
·       National Carpet Cleaners Association. All professional carpet cleaners should have their certification from this agency. Companies, on the other hand, should have membership in this association. If you are not sure about your cleaner's certification, you can easily check his membership through calling their office.
 
·       The British Institute of Cleaning Science. This is perhaps the largest carpet cleaning educational institution in United Kingdom. Though studying in this institute is not necessary, it is still a plus point if the professional does.
 
·       City & Guilds in Cleaning Science. Most people don't know that this group also gives certification for carpet cleaning. But compared with other certificating bodies, they require their members to have a deep understanding of carpet cleaning.
 
·       Woolsafe Approved Cleaner. This agency provides accreditation program for carpet maintenance. They also provide training on carpet cleaning. Independent carpet cleaners usually get their training, certification, and registration from this agency.
 
·       Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration. This is a non-profit body that sets high standard and promote ethics on giving cleaning services.
 
To avoid being scammed, don't trust any carpet cleaners who did not undergo training or even got certification from one of the above-mentioned agencies.
