Want To Get Rid Of Those Stubborn Stains On Your Carpet?

Published on Monday, 27 July 2009

Though you take good care of your carpet, it is impossible to avoid stains that happen accidentally. Specifically if it happens in the living room, you do all your efforts to get rid of them. The use of carpet protector makes the carpet stain resistant. Even if something spills accidentally, you can get rid of them very easily. Another important aspect to be taken care of whilst cleaning stains is never rub the stains in a haste to get rid of them just blot them either with clean white paper towels or cloth. Here are a few easy tips to get rid of specific stains on your carpet.   Food stains   If you throw a party, at the end of the day you will be left with a carpet full of food stains. As you see stains, sprinkle some table salt on them. This will prevent the stain from going deep. Ammonia can be used to get rid of chocolate and soft drink stains whilst isopropyl alcohol can be used to remove ice cream and tough stains that form due to spilling of gravy. Coffee, tea and red wine stains can be easily cleaned by the use of vinegar. Spray the agents over the stain area and allow them to spread. Then blot it with tissue papers and dry the area with a stack of paper towels with weight placed over them.   Stains caused by chalk, crayons, ink and gum   Kid's room carpet generally looks messy with most of the above stains. These stains can be removed with some simple tips.   Ink stains can be removed by use of hair spray or the commonly available stain removers. Care has to be taken whilst removing dried up spilled gums. Carefully scrap the topmost portion and wet the area with hot water, leave it for some time and then remove the gum with tissue that has been wetted with vinegar.   Crayons stains are hard to remove. Use of car lubricants like WD-40 eases the process. Chalk stains can be easily washed out by repeated cleaning with wet wipes.
