The Secret to Coffee Stain Removal
Published on Sunday, 25 October 2009
Coffee spills are common at home. No matter how careful you are, accidents simply happen. The good thing is that coffee stains can actually be removed. You don't have to replace your carpet and you don't have to make do with a stained carpet either.
Your first reaction should be to stop the stain from spreading. That is why you should try to absorb the spill as much as possible right away. You just have to get white paper towels or a white cloth to dab the spot until there's no more moisture.
Once you're done doing this, your objective is to remove the color of the coffee stain. You would now need water. But do not pour water on the carpet as this would again help spread the stain. Instead, just blot the stain off with water little by little. This will, in turn, lighten and thin out the stain bit by bit.
To completely remove the stain, you'll need to mix ¼ cup of lemon juice with a drop or a squirt of liquid detergent. Wet a sponge with the solution but squeeze it before applying it on the stain. While you would not want the sponge to drip, you would also want enough detergent on it to effectively remove the stain. Gently rub the spot from the outer side of the area going to the middle until the whole stain has been covered. By the time you finish, the stain would have been gone as well. Now your coffee stain will be removed and you will regain the beauty of your carpet.
