Removing Stains from Silk or Wool Rug

Published on Saturday, 28 November 2009

Rugs give a very opulent look to one's place and provide a warm atmosphere, more so if one owns a silk or wool rug. You need to take it seriously when your expensive silk rug looks and smells dirty even after vacuum cleaning it. It might contain a few stains here and there. But removing those stains can be a real task and you might ruin it if not done properly. Therefore, a professional agency must be hired for removing stains off your expensive silk or wool rug.

* Never rub onto the rug in a harsh manner. You'd only help in further ruining your rug by either spreading it or damaging the delicate rug fabric. Always seek professional agencies' help in this regard.

* Give immediate attention to stains because their removal is easy when they are fresh. Blot the stain immediately with the blotting paper or better with a cloth and put a heavy weight on it to absorb the maximum stain. Never delay the cleaning as once the stain gets deposited, it is very hard to remove it. Seek help from a professional agency and never try cleaning a stain off your expensive rug alone.

* If it is a hard stain that you have to attend to immediately, make sure to seek a professional advice before putting on chemical or washing concentrate. Doing a patch test is a god idea. The rugs are valuable, as the silk and wool are very sensitive.

* Some of the toughest stains are mildews and moulds. They are known as immovable stains. They have simple solution like lemon juice, salt mixture and non-chlorine bleach, but using the correct product for your carpet is important because the rug might loose colour or go rough. Hence, to choose the correct type of treatment for your expensive rug, seek a professional agency's advice.

You can easily take away the stains of your expensive rug and make it look new. It will make your house look attractive and warm for you as well as for your guests.
