How to Take Care of Blood Stains

Published on Friday, 14 January 2011

Blood stains can come to you anytime and anywhere. For instance, you could cut yourself anytime. Anyone in your household or a guest could cause blood stains too. And so you should learn how to handle such blood stains efficiently. This will get you prepared even before it happens.   Removing blood stains is easier if you attend to it as soon as it happens. This is because it is easier to remove the stain if it is done before the blood dries up. If the garment is washable, put it in a sink or pail full of water immediately. Then using your fingers or knuckles you can start scrubbing the blood stain while the fabric is wet. By doing so you loosen the blood stain and make washing easier. You can then put the fabric in the washing machine and wash it like usual.   On the other hand, if the blood stain has already dried you should attack the problem in another way. Well, it would just take longer to remove the blood stain. You should pre-soak the fabric before washing. Soaking the fabric overnight would loosen the dried blood stain. Use cold water to do so as hot water would cook the blood and make it even harder to remove. Do not use a dryer to dry the fabric too. Just in case there are some remaining stains, you should just let the fabric hang in a hanger or railing until it dries.   Again, the sooner you deal with the problem the easier it would be to defeat. Of course, you also protect your fabric from more persistent blood stains.
