How to Keep Your Rugs Clean

Rugs and carpets are usually installed in homes to enhance the look of every room. It takes effort to maintain them though. Still, maintenance can be easier with proper preventive measures.
Vacuum Rugs and Carpets Regularly
Stains and dirt are harder to remove the longer they stay in rugs and carpets. That is why regularly vacuuming helps a lot. By doing so, dirt is not able to seep in deep into the carpet fabric. It is cleaned while still on the surface so it does less damage to the rugs and carpets.
The trick is to vacuum your rugs and carpets thoroughly. You have to vacuum the whole area. To be sure that you do a good job, you have to inspect the carpets before and after doing it.
Watch for Spills and Clean Them Right Away
It's important that you clean spills immediately. As soon as you see it happen, you have to attend to it at once before the spill becomes embedded into the rugs. Aside from that treatment should be done on the spills to prevent them from reappearing.
Spills should be covered with absorbable cloth and weighed down with heavy objects. This would help take the spills out. But this should be followed with proper cleaning as well.
You have to be conscious that some rugs and carpets fabrics are sensitive to cleaners. Colored carpets should be cleaned with milder solutions like lemon juice, salt solution and non-chlorine bleach. Use stronger cleaners only after these mild solutions have been tried.
