How to do Carpet Cleaning Yourself

Periodical cleaning of carpets is a must and there are many professional carpet cleaners to do it for you. However if you are on a budget, it is possible, and better to do your carpet cleaning yourself. You have to rent carpet cleaners, and buy the necessary cleaning supplies for the job. A carpet rake also helps in raking the carpet after cleaning, to fluff it and make drying faster. The first thing to do is to remove all furniture from the carpet, and then vacuum it to get rid of loose dirt and debris. Then the spots and high traffic patches of the carpet have to be pre-treated. Make sure you do so whilst following the instructions of the chemicals. Try The Product On A Corner Of The Carpet To be safe and to prevent carpet discoloration, it is better to try the product on an out of the way corner of the carpet. After pretreating, the carpet cleaner's solution tank has to be filled with hot water and carpet detergent and then used to clean the carpet in overlapping passes. This flushes out the pre-treater and residue dirt in the carpet. Next, excess water has to be picked up using a vacuum. This may have to be repeated a few times over high traffic areas. Use Box Fans For Quicker Drying If you feel that there is still some residue in the carpet, fill the tank with hot water and clean the carpet to get it squeaky clean. Rake and fluff the carpet with the carpet rake and speed up the drying process using box fans over the cleaned areas. Now that you are done cleaning the carpet, you have to return all the moved furniture. If your furniture has wooden feet, bring them back whilst placing waxed paper or aluminium foil under the furniture. This prevents stains. Follow these tips, and you get yourself a clean and sparkling carpet.
