Published on Sunday, 04 April 2010
Homeowners are always excited to beautify their home, so it isn't surprising if you are jubilant of having a new patio wood to install in your back yard even though it is still unfinished due to insufficient fund. You really have no reason to fret because you can stain your new deck yourself. What you only need to do is learn how to do the job and gather the supplies you will need. To give you an overview, the first thing that you should do is to get the size of your patio. This will give you a more accurate idea on the amount of deck oil to buy. The purpose of the oil is to act as a sealant of the wood to protect it from dirt and rainwater that can possibly ruin its finish overtime. Other materials you will need are paint roller, paint brushes of different sizes that can be used for crevasses and corners, and paint pan. Begin the job by sweeping the whole deck. Afterwards, get a damp large cloth or mop and swipe it to the wood to wash out any remaining grease or dirt. Then start the painting job-apply the paint first followed by deck oil. You may also buy a water-based sealant if you want a faster process. Once you have completed the job, you can already start to relax in your lovely patio.
