Four Steps in Cleaning the Garage

Published on Wednesday, 25 July 2012

When cleaning our homes there is one place we often forget about and this is the garage. However, this is the place which mostly needs cleaning, since we often store there things we don't usually need.
In this article you can find five simple steps to help you clean your garage.

Step One: Collect everything you don't need
The first step when cleaning your garage is to collect all the stuff you don't need any longer. We all know how messy the place looks, when we have stored everything in there for so long. Although, it is not an easy task, this is the only way to reorganize your garage and free up some space. You can divide the things into two boxes, which you can label ?'throw away ?' and ?'charity''. The things that are too damaged and can no longer be used you can throw away and the other things you can give to charity.

Step Two : Organize your garage
For this step you are going to need many boxes, so make sure to buy them in advance. In order to make your garage more organized you can place everything in different boxes and label them. In this way , when you need something from your garage, you will know where to find it. Besides, placing everything in boxes will make your garage much more clean and neat. It is a big mistake to leave something without a box. Normally, people keep many stuff in a garage and if they are not in boxes, it will create a mess. Organize your items and pack them exactly the way you will do it when moving out. You can place the boxes on the one side of the garage so you can have more space.

Step three: Clean your garage
Once your stuff is organized into boxes you can start with the actual cleaning. It is a good idea to use a vacuum cleaner to remove the dirt and the dust. Make sure to clean the places where your stuff used to be. The vacuum cleaner will help you clean better your garage.

Step four: Paint it
Many people just clean the garage and they think they are done. However, if you want to make it look even better you can paint it. Perhaps, the last time when you have painted your garage was when you were doing some renovations in your home.
However, the paint cannot look the same way forever, so make sure to paint it again, when you are cleaning the garage. You can remove all the boxes that you have organized and place some pave on the floor so not to spill any paint. A good idea is to paint the whole garage, inside and outside, using a white paint. Normally painting the garage will take you a couple of hours, so you will be done by the end of the day. Painting the garage, not only cleaning it, is a good idea to keep it clean and new. Although , you use this place mostly for storage, you have to still take a good care.

If you are like most people, you haven't paid so much attention on how does your garage look like. Storing your stuff and not cleaning it for a long time will make the garage mess. Make sure to plan a garage cleaning at least twice a month , if you don't have that much time. You can follow the simple steps given above to make the cleaning better and easier.
