Determining the Carpet Cleaning Cost

Published on Friday, 21 August 2009

Will this be your first time to get carpet cleaning services? If yes, then you probably have no idea of what to expect, especially the cost. Don't worry because cleaning companies usually offer free on-site estimate. You can always ask them to go over your house and see how much work they will do and how much will you pay for it.

In estimating, companies usually do two methods:

1.     Per room basis. This is perhaps the most used method of carpet cleaning pricing. The carpet cleaning company will not have to do on-site estimate to give you accurate quote. They just need to know the number of rooms they have to clean.

The price they will give should already include the pre-treatment and the normal spotting. But the room size should only be from 200 to 300 square feet. Larger rooms will be considered as two rooms.

2.     Per square foot. Unlike the other method, this requires an onsite estimate. The professional will have to see and measure the area to be cleaned and give you an estimate. Some companies will measure the entire room while others will only get the measurement of the open space. Just like the per room basis, pricing per square foot already includes the pre-treatment and the common spotting.

Additional services for carpet cleaning will require additional charges, too.

Also, be careful of the lowest bidder because you will surely get what you pay for. Carpet cleaning companies have to make $80 to $100 per hour or they will surely lose money. So never accept offer lower than this or you'll be charged for services that your carpet does not really need.
