Cleaning Tips for Vertical Blinds

Published on Saturday, 16 January 2010

Vertical blinds are not only used for decorative purposes but also to control light and temperature of the room. They are best placed in glass windows and French doors. There are various materials that the vertical blinds can be made of.   In order to keep the vertical blinds in good condition, there should be regular maintenance. It is also easy to clean the blinds if dusts have not heavily soiled the corners of the vertical blinds. Regular dusting will help avoid this accumulation of dusts.   It will be easier to clean the blinds if they are detached from the window. You also have to take each of the vanes off the hook and disconnect the vanes from the chain. If the vertical blinds are made of fabric, remove the weight at the pocket before cleaning.   Vertical blinds made of vinyl and aluminum should be cleaned with soap and water after dusting them thoroughly. After scrubbing, rinse the blinds with water and let dry. White vertical blinds can be treated with bleach added to the detergent to improve its color. Fabric vertical blinds can be washed in a washing machine as long as the manufacturer's instructions permit so. Then remove the wrinkles with light steaming.   It is not difficult to clean the details of the blinds if you know the proper approach.
