Learning Green Alternatives For Residential Or Commercial Cleaning

Published on Friday, 28 August 2009

There are many ways to clean a surface or an area. Whilst most people tend to use commercial cleaning agents to clean residential and commercial spaces, eco-friendly alternatives are a much better option. They save the environment and are much cheaper. Here are some alternative green cleaners to make.

Vinegar

Vinegar has been proven to be one of the most versatile cleaners. When combined with water it removes the toughest of stains on glass and other surfaces like mirrors etc. When it is used neat in its undiluted form, it can remove odours of any kind. It can also be used to remove ingrained dirt and stains from clothing. You need to soak the stain on the fabric with neat vinegar and leave it overnight. The stain should vanish the next day. Even stubborn rust stains can be removed with vinegar. Vinegar can also be used to soften fabrics. All you have to do is combine a bit of vinegar into the water during the rinsing cycle and clothes come out feeling much softer!

Salt

Salt is another powerful cleaner and its potential is often underestimated. When used straight along with lemon juice, it can remove the toughest stains on brass surfaces. It can also be used to scrub off stains and grime from various metal surfaces.

Lemon juice

Lemon juice is also used as a powerful cleaner. You can use lemon juice diluted with water and some soap flakes to create your own dish wash solution. You could also use lemon juice as a deodorizer and for removing stains on clothes.

Toothpaste

Toothpaste can be used to remove stains on silverware. You can use an old toothbrush to dip into toothpowder or toothpaste and brush it over the silver surface to remove all kinds of stains.
